The Manitou Incline is a 0.9 mile grade. The steepest section is at a grade of 68% with the average grade just over 40%. Since the early 1990's, the incline has become a popular spot for hikers, Olympic trainers or anyone serious about getting into shape.
Team: I just wanted to say thank you for a glorious morning hike with all of you. Your competitive spirit is eclipsed only by your respect for your fellow team members. I am proud to be part of our group. At last count, there were 17 of us out there at 5:15am this morning; joined by our club member friends, Gene, Greg and Shadow—that made an even 20. We tip our hat to Justin who we were all secretly rooting for to beat Lee (Sorry Champ) but duly note that Louisa (and Fran?) were close on your heels. For all you first timers, we salute you!!
The true victory was in that we all made it to the top-- many waited and cheered for the stragglers (all over the age of 40, mind you, with some pushing 50)-- and that most of us still had it in us to do a few push-ups in honor of those who couldn’t make it. (See photos). I don’t have many of Team Lightening that sprinted to the top, but we know who you are and you are duly honored. We missed you, Brother. But, Fran did you proud.
Keep Pushing. Coach Neumann
